Visiting rules of the Botanical Garden and Arboretum

(hereinafter referred to as the Botanical Garden or BZA), based in Brno, Zemědělská 1, is a university-wide workplace of Mendel University in Brno, focusing primarily on research, teaching and education of students and employees of all faculties of Mendel University in Brno and the professional and lay public.

General provisions of the visiting rules

Protection of nature, collections and property of BZA

Visitors are obliged to behave according to the rules of civic coexistence and with the greatest consideration for the natural environment, collections, BZA property and for BZA employees and other visitors throughout their stay in the BZA complex.

Authorized BZA staff may give visitors the instructions necessary to ensure the safety and security of collections and visitors. Authorized staff may also perform acts to ensure and control compliance with the visiting rules. Visitors are obliged to follow the instructions of these authorized staff. If these insructions are not followed, visitors may be expelled from the premises or handed over to the relevant law enforcement authorities.

It is forbidden to damage buildings, collections, greenery and other property in the BZA complex, in particular:

  • tear plants, break branches of trees and shrubs or otherwise destroy and damage plants and natural products, collect seeds, manipulate name tags
  • disturb, capture, injure and kill animals
  • burden the natural environment and visitors with excessive noise
  • climb, write or paint on walls and information facilities on the BZA premises or otherwise damage them
  • throw garbage, including cigarette butts, out of the rubbish bin or otherwise disturb peace and order

All motor vehicles are prohibited from entering the BZA area, with the exception of the Botanical Garden and Arboretum vehicles and vehicles with a permit issued by the BZA. It is also forbidden to ride bicycles roller skates and skateboards.

In outdoor areas, visitors can only move on the roads. Access to flower beds, collections, water and meadow areas is prohibited. Students of Mendel University in Brno are allowed to enter the collections thoughtfully for study purposes.

Entry with animals to the BZA premises is prohibited.

Other use of the BZA premises (music production, patrol and stall sales, placement of promotional materials, photography and filming for non-personal use etc.) is only possible with the prior written consent of the BZA management and in accordance with the conditions set out in the permit.

Roads are not maintained in winter. Entry at your own risk.

BZA reserves the right to close any of its parts for the time strictly necessary for operational and climatic reasons, or for reasons of nature protection.

General provisions of the visiting rules

Fire protection and safety of visitors

Open fire handling is strictly forbidden in the entire BZA complex.

Smoking, alcohol and drug consumption are prohibited in the entire BZA complex. Camping is prohibited.

The child is only allowed on the premises if accompanied by a person over the age of 18 who is fully responsible for them.

Due to the possibility of contact with chemical substances or poisonous plants, it is forbidden to consume parts of plants or to carry out activities that could lead to possible poisoning.

Visitors are obliged to move with caution and prevent accidents during their stay on BZA premises. Report any accident during the inspection to the nearest BZA employee immediately.

The BZA management is not responsible for injuries and damages caused on the BZA premises.

Final provisions

Visitors can submit their wishes and complaints, comment and suggestions in writing or contact the BZA management in any other form.

Visitors who violate the provisions of the Visitor Regulations may be expelled from the BZA premises without the right to a refund. Visitors are resonsible for the damage according to applicable regulations.

These visiting rules come into force on the day of posting.
